Mike McCarthy and Blane
Webster planned a new digital system for the
Newsweb Corp facility on Pulaski Avenue in
Chicago that would be a network head end for
several repeaters (affiliate stations) in
Dekalb and Arlington Heights, IL. |

A Windows 2003 - 500GB Raid
10 Central Server was designed by Blane
Webster to house all audio along with
rack-mounted workstations from Industrial
Computer Source. Audio Cards for the project
were the MOTU 828 Firewire 4 Channel cards
for Air and Logger workstations along with
M-Audio Delta 44’s for most everything else
in the station.
Mike McCarthy’s previous experience with
iMediaLogger at Newsweb installations in
Chicago prompted the installation of the 4
channel iMediaLogger system to capture Best
of Shows, mic skimming and 24/7 logging. |
The WRZA Air
Studio is the
head end of the tri-mulcast. |

iMediaTouch was selected as
the Live Assist and Automation software to
operate the network programming and control
of the audio routing and closures for the
affiliate breakaways.

Having Problems with About Time not Setting the Time?
We have found that there can be issues with the connections to some Internet based time
servers. We have been testing connections to a new server to try and alleviate the problem. If
you would like, set your About Time to look at this location for the time: time.nrc.ca. This has, in
our tests, been a much more reliable server for time updates. It has to do with the amount of time
it takes to get a response from the existing time servers. Most of the connections do not occur.
We think it may have to do with too much traffic on those time servers.
To do this in the About Time Program click on the Time Hosts tab and then click on the Add
button. This will bring up the Add/Edit Time Host window. Enter the information exactly as you
see here:
Click on OK and you will be brought back to the Time Hosts page. You can now delete all of the
other entries by clicking on them and then clicking on the Delete button.
You should have better success connecting to this server than the existing servers.
